Office Of General Counsel
Welcome to the home page of the Office of General Counsel at Columbus State University!
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) manages and coordinates legal services for Columbus State University, including counsel and advice to the President, the Executive Leadership Team and various administrators on employment matters, public records requests, business transactions, student concerns, and compliance with pertinent federal and state laws. The OGC also works closely with lawyers at the University System of Georgia and the Office of Attorney General.
In essence, our role is to advise CSU's workforce in carrying out its duties and responsibilities as university employees. We do not represent employees on matters that are personal in nature, nor do we advise students except when those students are employees or are acting in an official or volunteer capacity, such as, an officer in the student government association or as a recognized volunteer in a structured volunteer program.
We hope the information contained herein about the services performed by the OGC, along with links to other sources of State and Federal higher education related information, proves helpful.
The OGC is located in Room 206, Richards Hall. We welcome all calls and questions.
